VP Robredo's stunt at LTO-Naga Draws Bashes not Praises

Instead of getting praises for getting a number and falling in line to renew her driving license at the Land Transportation Office in Naga City, Camarines Sur on 11 July 2017, the Philippine Vice-President Leni Robredo have been bashed by netizens around the country. Many remarked that this gesture to be an "ordinary citizen"  is only for publicity since her popularity has been eroding since her under-protest election to the second-highest position in May 2016.

VP Robredo was lambasted for driving with an expired Philippine driving license ( if she indeed does not have an American license) with daughter Aika in the US. Some questioned if she paid the penalty for renewing late since her birthday is on 23 April 2017.  Others were surprised for few applicants during her stint at the LTO.

Appearing to be an ordinary person does not do good to the Vice-President. Her alleged riding a bus to Manila during the campaign last year was indeed a political gimmick inherited from her late husband. Now, no one saw her waiting for the bus or riding one.

Except for a few, it seems that VP Robredo's popularity and approval rating is diving down everyday especially so that the election protest filed in the Supreme Court by Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. is already underway. To regain her stature, VP Robredo should refrain from doing/acting something that is hard to believe. She should focus on doing her job as a Vice-President, whatever those jobs be without the camera. (Honestly, I do not know what are those jobs).

Philippine Vice-President, a "basurera?"

I do not know why the Philippine Vice President (subject to final count by the Supreme Court) Leni Robredo say and act the way she did that many Filipinos believed was not true at all. The first was when she projected herself as an ordinary wife commuting from Naga City to Manila by bus just before the 2016 Philippine Election. Now, there is no news about it. Security reasons? Nawww!

The second was when she told to the world that the millions that she spent during the election was from selling ice cream and porridge (the reason why she was referred to as many as "Lugaw Queen").

The third was when she delivered for the United Nations informing all nations about "palit-ulo" scheme in drug war.

And now, she again portrayed herself as lowly Filipino scavenging the trash of Boston for things her daughter Aika used for her Harvard apartment. I know many overseas Filipinos, immigrants or workers, are doing like that. But for a vice-president, who allegedly own properties worth millions, this revelation was a trash. Poor Leni, she cannot get the sympathy of many of her "kababayans" for portraying herself as one of the "laylayan ng lipunan". Many will not believe her antics.

"Leni is at it again. Just when you thought she's done it all, she pulls something out of her ass that never ceases to amaze and bewilder us. Once again, she is desperately trying to portray herself as an underdog by making this preposterous claim that she went rummaging through garbage in Boston for items her daughter Aika could use i

n her Harvard apartment.

The inanity and surreal nature of this claim are enough to convince us that Leni's hypocrisy and lack of shame has gone off to an entirely new and previously uncharted level that one can only sufficiently describe as beyond human comprehension. After gracing a gathering of Fil-Am socialites in California wearing an extravagant Marcosian blue gown while war-torn Marawi burns, she downplays her insensitivity and garishness by projecting an image of unparalleled modesty, effectively insulting our collective IQ and throwing whatever amount of self-respect our fellow Filipinos in foreign countries strove hard to achieve straight into the garbage bin along with the godforsaken trash.

Leni must think of the whole country as a bunch of mindless buffoons to seriously fall for this kind of crap. One last thing we can say about this is that Leni was scavenging indeed. Not for useful trash but for sympathy and lost credibility. And she has taken all of us into the heap."

There is no crime in scavenging because it is one way of conserving our resources. Often, I also gathered things which are still useful in the trash bins around the area. But a vice-president doing this is but a joke considering that she is spending millions of pesos for the Harvard education of her daughter.

If VP Robredo want sympathy and respect from her fellow Filipinos, all she has to do is be honest and do her job for those who are in the "laylayan" of society without "gimik".
