Another Filipino was executed by lethal injection today, December 8,2011, in China. The unnamed Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) was apprehended at Guilin International Airport trying to smuggle 1.495 kilos of heroin on September 13,2008.
Today, two siblings and 2 cousins met with the victim for about 45 minutes. At noon, the OFW was declared dead by Vice President Jejomar Binay. The letter from Malacanang went to waste.
This is the fourth Filipino executed in China for drug charges. Clemency asked by President Noynoy Aquino was again not heard. I guess it is about time that we review our punishment to foreigners whose countries are executing our countrymen.
