Crown Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud of Saudi Arabia is Dead

HRH Crown Prince Sultan nin Abdulaziz Al-Saud

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is mourning after learning that HRH Crown Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud has died early today in New York, USA. Prince Sultan , the half-brother of HRH King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud, is believed to have died of cancer although no official confirmation has been heard.

The Interior Ministry has indicated that the burial might took place on Tuesday. HRH Crown Prince Sultan had been Defense & Aviation Minister for decades, regularly meeting visiting dignitaries. He was well-loved by the Saudis. He was 80 years old.

HRH Prince Naif bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud

HRH Prince Naif bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud, currently Second Deputy Prime Minister and long time Interior Minister is expected to be chosen as Crown Prince.

Update:  HRH King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud signed Thursday, 27 October 2011, the designation of HRH Prince Naif bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud as Crown Prince. It was announced early  Friday, 28 October 2011.
