Philippine Politics' Quotes of the Day

There are so many political quotes burst out today by Philippine political figures and friends. Here are some of them:

Maria Elena Bautista-Horn

Elena Bautista-Horn: "There is a plot initiated by the PNoy administration to 'Put the Little Girl to Sleep' as revealed to us by a 'very reliable' official of the administration."

My comment: Coming from one of the most corrupt government agencies during the Arroyo administration (LTFRB and Marina), Elena Bautista-Horn is not a credible spokeswoman for the former President -in-Question Glorial Macapagal-Arroyo. I believe that what she is revealing is only a tactic to prevent the PNoy government to put Congresswoman Gloria Arroyo in a PUBLIC hospital if the Pasay Regional Trial Court favored the hospital arrest for the "Little Girl".

Edwin Lacierda

Edwin Lacierda, remarking on the plot: "This is a product of small minds. So much lies have been sown to the public."

My comment: I totally agree with what PNoy's spokesman said. The pronouncements of the Arroyo camp only enhance the anti-PGMA sentiments. Lalong hindi naaawa ang mga Filipino sa kanya. Nadaragdagan pa ang galit ng mga ito dahil sa mga kasinungalingang ipinalalabas ng mga nakapaligid sa kanya.

Rep. Mitos Magsaysay

Zambales Rep. Mitos Magsaysay, on the slow pace of economic growth: "I don't think any doctor in the Palace is capable to solve problems in the economy. They need new specialists."

My comment: An Economics magna cum laude graduate from Assumption College, a master's degree graduate in Economics from Ateneo de Manila University and a doctorate in Economics from the University of the Philippines in Diliman, once ruled the Palace and yet she did not uplift the economic conditions of the 90+M Filipinos for 9 long years. She was also the professor of the current ruler of Malacanang. If the teacher could not fulfill what she taught, how else is her student? This so-called expert in Economics happened to be former President-in-Question Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.

Former President-In-Question Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo

The most advance country and the home of the most brilliant minds in the world, the USA, could not fix its financial problems, how can a developing country with politicians' little minds speed up its own growth?

Olongapo and Zambales have been interchangebly ruled by the Gordons and the Magsaysays for decades and yet little economic progress has been attained by the Zambalenos and the people of Ulo ng Apo.

Gag Order

Rep. Mitos Magsaysay, on PGMA's case:  "A self-imposed 'gag order' shall be practiced by the public on the case of former President Arroyo specifically on the matter of where to detain her."

My comment: As a public figure, this so called 'gag order' shall first be practiced by the lawmakers of the land. They should concentrate on making better laws that will uplift the living conditions of the masses and not laws on safeguarding their own interests. They must see to it that laws are implemented and not only written and that they are equally imposed on everybody. They should draft a law that impose limitation or maximum terms for congressman and senators, like that of the presidency.

The Arroyo camp presented two petition to the Court. One for 'house arrest' and the other 'hospital arrest.' They cannot make up their minds. Can a detention cell be a house and a hospital at the same time? I think so. Build a penthouse in St Luke's Medical Center in Taguig City or in Asian Hospital and Medical Center in Alabang. I just wondering if the hospital arrest petition specified that it must be a private hospital.

==========
Extra comment:

The privilege afforded to rich and powerful persons in the Philippines is one of the reasons why Filipinos are going overseas. Aside from giving a better life to their family, to become rich and powerful is also one of their dreams. This is a necessity so that you will end up in a private hospital, clean detention center and a villa if you violated the same law that you promulgated; that you can leave the country in case you are sick even with numerous cases against you; that you can be immune from suits, etc.

HELLO, ExPGMA? WE ARE SORRY!

"Please release me, let me go!" - Ex President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo

The Filipino people feel sorry for the former President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo (PGMA) when she and her family were not allowed to leave the country on 15 November 2011. This was after the Philippine Supreme Court (SC) issued a Temporary Restraining Order (TRO) against the Watch List Order issued by the Department of Justice headed by Secretary Leila De Lima.

"I'm sorry but you cannot go right now, ExPGMA!" - Leila De Lima

The 3 conditions imposed by the SC, whose members are mostly appointed by PGMA, to be satisfied by the Arroyos so that they can leave the country are:
1 - Appoint a legal representative to receive legal documents & notices while the Arroyos are overseas
2 - A bond of 2 million pesos in cash
3 - Notify the Philippine Embassy of their whereabouts in their country of destinations

The first condition was met by appointing Ferdinand Topacio as the legal representative of the Arroyos. The P2M in cash was readily met. The last condition will only be fulfilled once the Arroyos leave the country.

In spite of the TRO, Sec. De Lima still  instructed the Bureau of Immigration and the Bureau of Aviation to bar ex-President Gloria Arroyo, her husband Mike Arroyo, his son Mikey and wife, pending the resolution of the Motion for Reconsideration filed by the Office of the Solicitor General. Sec. De Lima wants the SC to give its ruling on the Motion before the implementation of the TRO with the impression that the Arroyos will not come back to the Philippines.

"You can castrate one of my balls if the Arroyos did not come back." - Lawyer Ferdinand Topacio

Lawyer Ferdinand Topacio, in an attempt to validate the Arroyo's vow to return to the Philippines after the treatment, offered his one ball to be castrated if the Arroyos broke their promise. Likewise, exPGMA's spokeswoman, Maria Elena Bautista-Horn, former head of one of the most corrupt agencies in the Philippines - the Land Transportation Franchise Regulatory Board (LTFRB) and Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) administrator, offered herself to jail sentence in case Representative Gloria Macapagal Arroyo (RGMA) did not return.

"If the promise is not fulfill, you can put me to jail." - Maria Elena Bautista-Horn

My thoughts to this fiasco:

1 - Let the Supreme Court rule on the Motion for Reconsideration filed by the Solicitor General. Although the TRO issued can already be imposed, what will happen if they (SC) reversed its ruling and the Arroyos were already overseas?

2 - Freeze the assets of the Arroyos and do not let them return to the Philippines. Living in exile can be the worst of punishment.

3 - Karma is on its way. The Arroyos are afflicted with many illnesses. God knows best.
