Dex Amoroso's The Asshole's Daily Musing and Stay-at-Home Dad at Kindle Book

I received a request from a Facebook friend to feature his two books which are now live and available for purchase in the Kindle Store and enrolled in KDP Select!

He wrote:

Undoubtedly, even in pre-pandemic conventional schools were dinosaur-like, oversized, more bureaucratic, impersonal, less responsive to parents and less adaptable to the individual or local cultural variations, many families feel increasingly compelled to search for alternative educational options. Now comes pandemic or plandemic or scandemic or whatever, home-schooling is becoming a popular alternative education to school-based education.

In addition, it is a popcorn approach to fathering and home-schooling. Popcorn is prepared in the same pot, in the same heat, the same oil and yet… the kernels do not pop at the same time. Do not compare your child to others. Their turn to pop is coming!

Furthermore, this guide offers practical and creative solutions to possible challenges, featuring some actual parenting and home-based education activities he managed to document during lockdown (also known in Singapore as ‘circuit breaker’) and four entertaining and powerful poems featured along the way.

My first book "THE ASSHOLE’S DAILY MUSING: For Filipinos, puwets are asses. I am Dexter their assholes' poet"

My first book is a collection of poetry with no specific genre or type. The subjects range from serious to silly. The poetry combines sadness and humour, despair and hope, pain and acceptance, and observance of nature lives in perfect miniaturist close-up. I am sure everyone can relate to it.

and my second book "STAY-AT-HOME DAD: Makin' popcorn & Wiping Asses: Their Turn to Pop Is Coming, but Don't Poop at the Same Time!"

The second book is written with mix of humour and so much profound and helpful information for stay-at-home dads, this book is very deep and explore the territory of individualism versus collective as applied to growth, addresses parenting, home-schooling, and transitioning from home setting to regular school setting issues men face and they may even sink when they become the primary caregivers.

These are originally written and edited by the imperfect my imperfect self.

For those who are stay-at-home dads who want humour and some tips to handle kids, please purchase these books at very reasonable prices!

GF YIN, BF YANG - The Tale of a DDS and a Dilawan Lovers

Below is another contribution of a Facebook friend:

GF YIN,  BF YANG
(The Tale of a DDS and a Dilawan Lovers)

By Dex Amoroso 04/15/2021

Around the year 2017, Jojo started seeing a girl.

They started dating.

Liza was almost 10 years younger than Jojo.

She was the most beautiful woman Jojo has ever seen. And the sexiest.

Yes, beauty is a subjective commodity.

For Jojo she was more beautiful than Alice Dixon, sexier than Jennylyn Mercado.

The physical aspect of their relationship was the best ever, but when one really fall in love with that one special woman, you realize that holding her hand is just as wonderful and magical as sex.

Like all great women, she had a wisdom about her, a wisdom and an insight no man could possibly have.

They would go out to eat, go to the movies, play badminton (Liza stroke like Jwala Gutta, Jojo stroke like Pannawit Thongnuam).

Jojo even took her to the school's alumni homecoming and introduced her to his classmates and friends.

Jojo was never so proud, showing off his incredible girlfriend to his friends.

They hiked Taal Volcano together on one of his birthday.

For Jojo, Liza was the sun, moon and the stars all rolled up into one.

He has never, before or since, been so in love with a woman.

Liza wanted him to meet her parents.

They came this close to getting married.

This close.

Liza was the great love of his life.

But there was one caveat, one flaw that killed off their relationship.

Liza was a hardcore DDS.

She deeply believed that Tatay D is the best in the world, he fights for Philippines’ interest and he is the bravest leader!

And she wouldn’t be quiet about it.

Jojo loved Liza, so he would let her chatter on and on and on, never disagreeing or saying a word.

Then, one day, she came to pick him up.

"No one except Tatay D could’ve procured vaccines for the Philippines.", Liza proudly claimed.

For Jojo that was the first fallacy of her girlfriend's statements.

“Tanga, your assumption is insufferable because dumb, corrupt and incompetent as your Tatay D is, you assumed, babe, that every Filipino citizen including me (Jojo) is dumber, more corrupt and incompetent than your Tatay D is. That is called an argument of unwarranted assumption", Jojo said.

"Secondly, simply saying that he is the best there is — sans proof — is called an assertion.  Although if you care enough to remove your blinders, you may see that proofs abound — that your Tatay D is anything but the best. Tanga.   I know, I know.  That’s ostensibly an ad hominem.  But my breakdown of your arguments above practically makes my labeling of you an act of honest description and less a personal attack. So. Yes, tanga ka, babe." Jojo added while obviously annoyed but still trying to soften his beloved.

Liza told him she couldn't see him any more.

He just couldn't take all the endless talk about Tatay D.

She looked baffled when Jojo said she is tanga.

She drove off.

And Jojo never did see Liza again.

Jojo thinks that his handling of the situation was wrong.
He will never know.

Dilawans are not fated to live side-by-side with the DDS. They are destined to be the Yin to their Yang.

This is what politics can do to two people who deeply loved each other.

Sometimes Jojo wish politics had never been invented.

A #ShortStory: The Wake by Dex Amoroso

Below is a short story contributed by one of my friends on Facebook:

THE WAKE

by Dex Amoroso

Dex was taken to the hospital after a work accident that left him with difficulty breathing and aching body.  He was admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) and received mechanical ventilation.

Three days later he felt a bit well and talked to the doctor who visited and examined his current condition.

"Doc, I've been here in the hospital for three days, I miss my children. Can you allow them to visit me?", Dex asked.

"Sorry sir, but the children are not allowed to visit here in the patient care area. That is part of the health protocol during the pandemic", the doctor replied.

Past 7p.m., it was dark outside and there was no nurse in his room. He took the opportunity to escape the hospital. He climbed out the window and jumped.

He burst with excitement when he got out of the hospital fence.

As he approached their house, he saw many lights. When he got closer, he was surprised because there were many people outside. There were tables, some people drinking and others playing cards.

The first person he met was his wife.

"Jen, how are you? Where are the two kids?" Why are so many people at home? What is the occasion?", he asked.

Jen's face was incredibly sad, and she ignored him.

He was confounded to see his mother and two siblings in their house.

"Good, you're all here at home. When did you arrive? How are you, Ma? We haven't seen each other in a long time.", Dex told them.

He felt bumped out after his mother and two siblings ignored him.

"I just got back from the hospital. My head and body still hurt because I am not well yet. I got out of the hospital because I ran away. Don't any of you want to talk to me?" he asked in an obviously disgusted voice.

After a while he heard the sweet voices of his two sons as the two played inside the room. He opened the door and grinned from ear to ear when he saw the two.

"How are my two little boys that Daddy loves so much?", he asked.

When the two children did not respond, he had a sinking feeling that something was not right.

Suddenly he felt severe body pain, so he went straight to the living room to lie down on the sofa.

As he slowly walked towards the living room, he met Liber, a stray dog he took care of.

"How are you, Liber boy?" he asked.

"Arf, arf, arf", the dog barked and wagged his tail.

"Finally, a dog noticed me." he said to himself in his mind.

When he sat down on the sofa he saw a casket. His blood ran cold and he stood up again.

He saw a poster with a text and a picture of him and it read, "In Loving Memory of Dexter Amoroso".

He was scared out of his wits when he approached the coffin and looked up and saw himself lying inside.

“Why is my body inside the coffin while I'm here outside?", He asked.
