2014 Philippine Top Taxpayers

I am hoping to post the Top 10 Philippine Taxpayers for 2016. Unfortunately, the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) had only published officially the list for 2014.  This only shows how slow Philippine government offices and bureaus in collecting and updating their records in spite of advances in information technology. If you are researching, what you got are mostly out-of-date if not outdated information and statistics. This shall compromise that integrity and the timeliness of your reports and recommendations.

Based on the list below, the highest taxpayer for 2014 is Jacinto L. Ng with P 280,107,497.00 regular income taxes paid.  Mr. Ng is the owner of REBISCO.

Second on the list with P 210,305,927.00 taxes paid is Emmanuel Dapidran Pacquiao or popularly known as Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao, "Ang Pambansang Kamao ng Pilipinas". His wealth comes from his boxing bouts and investments.

With P 153,551,323.16 regular income taxes paid, Vivia Que Azcona is the third highest taxpayer for 2014. Mrs. Azcona is the President of Mercury Drug.

Jose Chavez Alvarez comes fourth with P 73,005,624.00 income taxes paid. He is popularly know as "JCA" and is currently the governor of Palawan. His fortune comes from business and investments.

The fifth on the list for 2014 top taxpayers of the Philippines with P66,866,986.00 taxes paid is Jacinto Co Ng, Jr.  He is apparently the son of Jacinto L Ng. According to 4-Traders, Mr. Jacinto Co. Ng, Jr. is on Board of Directors of various Philippine businesses inlcuding REBISCO, Belle Corporation, Asia United Insurance Corporation, among others.

Surprisingly, some movie personalities are included in the top 40. Notable is Kristina Bernadette Cojuangco Aquino or Kris Aquino with income taxes paid of P 54,530,635.00 for 2014. Her income comes mostly from media commercials and endorsements, movies in additional to businesses.

Number 13 with P 49,117,122.00 taxes paid is Sharon Cuneta Pangilinan. Although not active in showbusiness, Sharon's wealth come from investments and various businesses.

Another versatile actor on the list is John Lloyd Espidol Cruz. His taxes paid of P 37,701,343.00for the year 2014 makes him at number 22. His income mostlt comes from movie and tv appearances, investments and businesses.

Another Kapamilya star in number 32 with P 31,465,873.00 income taxes paid is Anne Ojales Curtis-Smith. Her wealth mostly comes from TV and movie appearances.

I am hoping that BIR shall publish their top taxpayers for 2015 and 2016 soon so that I can compare them with 2014 list.

Pinoy Creative Writers, Nasaan na Kayo?

It seems that Pinoy creative writers are rare this day especially those in the entertainment industry. I say this because of the remakes, adaptations, reruns and copycats of previous teleseryes, movies and komicks stories. Take for example Mars Ravelo's komicks superheroes like Darna of Angel Locsin, Dragonna of Shaina Magdayao and now Flash Bomba of Luis Manzano, to name a few. Naririyan pa rin ang Pieta ni Carlo Caparas na pinagbibidahan ni Ryan Agoncillo. Wala na bang malilikhang bagong Pinoy superhero maliban kay Kapitan Inggo?

Filpinos are also guilty of "tagalizing" famous foreign TV shows like Betty La Fea of Bea Alonzo and the much awaited Lovers in Paris starring Piolo Pascual, KC Concepcion and Zanjoe Marudo(?). Hindi na ba makapag-isip ang mga sinanay ni G. Ricky Lee sa kanyang mga workshop at seminar?

Another remakes are the teleserye Underage and the upcoming Kambal sa Uma previously starring Rio Locsin.

Speaking of game shows, hayun ay puro de-kahon na lang ang mga pinalalabas - pagkatapos ng Deal or No Deal ni Kris Aquino ay raratsada naman ang Bingo, na kahit tunog at popular sa mga Pinoy ay isa ring syndicated game show ng Endemol. Why not authentic Pinoy games? Wala kayong maisip kasi nga iba ang pinag-iisip natin!

The Galman - Aquino Double Murder

Because of the release of the soldiers who allegedly killed Benigno "Ninoy" Aguino at the Manila International Airport's tarmac in the 80's, the Galman-Aquino Double Murder case surfaced. I understand the reactions of TV host Kris Aquino and Sen. Noynoy Aquino for the "early" release of these "murderers".

Until now, the soldeirs denied the accusation. They maintain their innocence. Guilty or not, they suffered a lot. Like Kris and Noynoy, these soldiers also have children who missed their fathers for 25 years.

Finding the mastermind is of no use. Bringing the real culprit to justice is of no use because he/she/they might be dead by now or bringing them to jail maybe not possible because he/she/they are too old by now and may receive a pardon.

Let us forget this injustice and move on. Ninoy is dead but his memories and aspirations remain.

PATAYIN SA SINDAK

"Patayin sa Sindak si Barbara" is a komicks novel made into a movie starring Susan Roces. It was revived and Dawn Zulueta? became Barbara. In a television production to be aired by ABS-CBN in January 2008, Kris Aquino will play Barbara.
Sa trailer na ipinakikita sa TFC, napansin ko na naman ang "Kunot-noo" acting ni Kris Aquino. Hindi ko alam kung talagang ganoon kung siya ay matakot. Sana ay hindi kumunot ang noo ko habang nanonood.
