Jomari Fernando is HYY Batang Genius Grand Winner

On Saturday, January 7, 2012, Jomari Fernando, 12 of Nueva Ecija became the first ever HYY Batang Genius grand champion. This talent search won him 1 million pesos in cash, high & college scholarship and some high-tech gadgets such as tablet computer, LED TV, digital camera and some appliances.

Chester, on the other hand, got P100,000 as his second placer finish.

Batang Genius - Give Me Five - Dec 31, 2011

On December 31, 2011, the three remaining HYY Batang Genius finalists composed of John Vincent, Jomari and Chester faced each other again for the "Give Me Five" Elimination challenge. In this round, each contestant has to give the 5 correct answers within 15 seconds in this enumeration test. Only the first 5 answers uttered by the finalist shall be considered and he cannot change his answers although there is time left. In the event that a contestant got the 5 correct answers, an additional point is added to his score.

The questions came from 3 different boxes which contain 5 questions each. These boxes are labelled Round 1, 2 and 3.The finalist has to choose the question number he wishes to answer from these boxes. The first Batang Genius who answered the first question was Chester  who answered it correctly for the names of at least 5 ASEAN countries and therefore got 6 points. JV was next who got 4 correct answers for the 5 layers of the atmosphere.  Jomari answered 4 correct answers for the names of Ferdinand Magellan's fleet in 1519.

After the third round, here are the score of the finalists:

Jomari = 9 points

Since JV has the lowest score, he was eliminated from the game. Chester and Jomari will battle it up for the grand championship in the coming days. In this episode, I guess Chester got lucky because the questions that he chose commanded more than 10 answers.

HYY Batang Genius - December 10, 2011

JV

The three remaining finalists of the Happy Yipee Yehey Batang Genius battled it out again this Saturday, December 10,2011. Chester, JV and Jomari were challenged by Teacher Toni Gonzaga for a 15 questions "duel".

Jomari

In this episode, the names of the 3 contestants are written on 5 balls each and put in a jar. Whoever name was picked out by Teacher Toni had the chance to choose his opponent. This 15 question challnege was dubbed as "Duelo".

Chester

Whoever win this battle had his wish granted to a particular barangay or person. Chester and Jomari's wish were grocery items while a "noche buena" was JV's wish. After the round, JV and Jomari were declared first honors with 5 points each while Chester only got 4. However, no one got eliminated because this was a non-elimination duel. In the end, all three finalists were granted all their wishes.

In this pre-final round, the competition was very tight. Who will be declared the Grand Winner of Batang Genius? Keep watching!

HYY Batang Genius - Top 5 (Nov 5, 2011)

On Saturday, 5 November 2011, the bottom 3 of Happy Yipee Yehey  Batang Genius competed each other through the Chronology Game, where each contestant arranged from oldest to latest events they chose to answer. Mikhail selected "World Geniuses" category and answered correctly 3 of the 5 events. "In the News" was chosen by Chester and he answered all of the events correctly. Jerome also chose "In the News" but he arranged all the events wrongly. As a result, Jerome was eliminated from the game. On Saturday, the top 5 will again compete. The first honors shall be able to offer gifts to his grandparent (lolo or lola).

HYY Batang Genius Top 6

On Saturday, 8 October 2011, the last 2 slots for the top 9 between the bottom 3 Batang Genius were awarded to Mikhail Torio and John Vincent Cortez after a mental Mathematcis challenge. John Dominic Ragudo was eliminated. Afterwards, the top 9 faced each other again to be included in the top 6. Here are the brightest 6 kids:
