World News in Brief: Djokovic Wins Wimbledon 2021; Italy Captures Euro Cup 2020

Novak Djokovic of Serbia defeated Matteo Berrettini of  Italy to win Wimbledon 2021 Men's Singles final on Sunday, July 11, 2021.

Although lost to Serbia in tennis, Italy won the 2020 European Football Cup also on Sunday against England with a tense 3-2 penalty shootout. Both team had scored 1-1 before the extension and penalty shootout.

DJOKOVIC & OSAKA Win Australian Open 2021

Novac Djokovic of Serbia and Naomi Osaka of Japan win the Men's and Women's Singles, respectively, at the Australian Open 2021, held in Melbourne, Australia.

The world no. 1 Djokovic defeated world no. 4 Daniil Medvedev of Russia in 3 straight sets, 7-5, 6-2, 6-2, on Sunday, 21 February 2021. It is Djokovic's 9th Australian Open titles.

Earlier on Saturday, the No. 3 Osaka won over 22th ranked Jennifer Brady of the USA in 2 straight sets, 6-4, 6-3. The title is Osaka's 2nd Australian Open and 4th Grand slam trophies having won also two US Open titles.

Djokovic Slashes Nadal To Win 2012 Australian Open Men's Singles Title


It's over! Once again, Novak Djokovic triumphed over Spain's Rafael Nadal to capture the 2012 Australian Open Men's Singles Tennis Tournament title. 


Djokovic stunned Rafa 5-7, 6-4, 6-2, 6-7 & 7-5 at the Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne, Australia in the early Monday morning, January 29, 2012. 


The match lasted for 5 hours and 52 minutes, the longest in the history of the Australian Open, making most Aussies sleepy at work on Monday. The 24 years old from Belgrade had won four of the five grand slams beating Nadal in 3 successive grand finals.
