2014 Philippine Top Taxpayers

I am hoping to post the Top 10 Philippine Taxpayers for 2016. Unfortunately, the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) had only published officially the list for 2014.  This only shows how slow Philippine government offices and bureaus in collecting and updating their records in spite of advances in information technology. If you are researching, what you got are mostly out-of-date if not outdated information and statistics. This shall compromise that integrity and the timeliness of your reports and recommendations.

Based on the list below, the highest taxpayer for 2014 is Jacinto L. Ng with P 280,107,497.00 regular income taxes paid.  Mr. Ng is the owner of REBISCO.

Second on the list with P 210,305,927.00 taxes paid is Emmanuel Dapidran Pacquiao or popularly known as Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao, "Ang Pambansang Kamao ng Pilipinas". His wealth comes from his boxing bouts and investments.

With P 153,551,323.16 regular income taxes paid, Vivia Que Azcona is the third highest taxpayer for 2014. Mrs. Azcona is the President of Mercury Drug.

Jose Chavez Alvarez comes fourth with P 73,005,624.00 income taxes paid. He is popularly know as "JCA" and is currently the governor of Palawan. His fortune comes from business and investments.

The fifth on the list for 2014 top taxpayers of the Philippines with P66,866,986.00 taxes paid is Jacinto Co Ng, Jr.  He is apparently the son of Jacinto L Ng. According to 4-Traders, Mr. Jacinto Co. Ng, Jr. is on Board of Directors of various Philippine businesses inlcuding REBISCO, Belle Corporation, Asia United Insurance Corporation, among others.

Surprisingly, some movie personalities are included in the top 40. Notable is Kristina Bernadette Cojuangco Aquino or Kris Aquino with income taxes paid of P 54,530,635.00 for 2014. Her income comes mostly from media commercials and endorsements, movies in additional to businesses.

Number 13 with P 49,117,122.00 taxes paid is Sharon Cuneta Pangilinan. Although not active in showbusiness, Sharon's wealth come from investments and various businesses.

Another versatile actor on the list is John Lloyd Espidol Cruz. His taxes paid of P 37,701,343.00for the year 2014 makes him at number 22. His income mostlt comes from movie and tv appearances, investments and businesses.

Another Kapamilya star in number 32 with P 31,465,873.00 income taxes paid is Anne Ojales Curtis-Smith. Her wealth mostly comes from TV and movie appearances.

I am hoping that BIR shall publish their top taxpayers for 2015 and 2016 soon so that I can compare them with 2014 list.

Bradley Snatches Pacquiao's WBO Welterweight Belt

The unbeaten Timothy Bradley knocked out Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao in the 6th round of their welterweight match at the MGM Grand Garden Arena on Saturday, June 9, 2012.

UPDATE:  Although not by KO, my prediction was correct. Bradley won the fight via split decision, 115-113, 115-113, 113-115.

This was unexpected as most Pacquiao fans would like to see the reverse. However, some boxing aficionados predicted that this would happen as they saw a less than enthusiastic and physique Pacman in the weigh-in yesterday.

Even the special candle used by Pacquiao's mom, Dionisia Pacquiao, while praying did nothing to change this unpredictable event. Also, the presence of Pacquiao's wife Jinkee and all their children did not bring luck to the uninterested boxing champion. Even the boxing enthusiasts and fans did not fill the whole arena.

I hope that my prediction above will not happen tomorrow, June 9, 2012, as million of Filipinos will be surely disappointed.


Addendum:
With the loss, Pacmom Dionisia Pacquiao fainted after hearing the defeat of his son Manny.

The world is shocked with the decision. Arum suggested that the two judges who chosen Bradley must have an eye examination and he will pay the bill. Even Bradley was shocked when he heard the result. Many think that Pacquiao has been robbed with the title. Well, let's watch the rematch in November 2012.

Fans of Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao are not at all excited with his coming WBO welterweight bout with Timothy Bradley. The scheduled boxing event will be held on June 9, 2012 at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA. Bradley is the current WBP junior welterweight champion with 28 professional undefeated card.

Many fans are still looking forward to a Cotto, Marquez or Mayweather fight before The People's Champ decides to retire in 2013 for a religious calling. However, I still believe that a Manny Pacquiao - Nonito Donaire fight is the best closing bout of the Bible Ambassador of the Philippines.

It has been revealed that Manny Pacquiao is considering retirement in 2013. This is related to his appointment as a Bible Ambassador by the Catholic Bishop Conference of the Philippines (CBCP). Some gladly accepted this idea especially Jinky Pacquiao and Mommy Dionisia. Many fans still wish Manny to fight Mayweather before his retirement.

However, my wish is that Manny "The People's Champ" Pacquiao fights Nonito "The Filipino Flash" Donaire. for any boxing belt they choose.This will be a bout of a lifetime - two Filipino boxing champions in the ring! What do you think?

After the claim and counter claim between Manny Pacquiao's camp and Floyd Mayweather's camp, the latter challenged the People's Champ to a May 5, 2012 fight. This was declared by Mayweather Jr. on Monday, 28 November 2011. Well, the ball is on Pacquiao's camp now. Will Manny say "yes!". Let's see!

Pacquaio - Marquez Controversial Fight

Two days after the majority win of Manny Pacquiao of the Philippines against Juan Manuel Marquez of Mexico, fans and boxing aficionados are still exchanging comments and counter-comments, claims and counter-claims in various tv interviews, news headlines and social networking media. Each group claimed that their idol had won the fight.

In spite of this controversy which headlined most of the sports pages off and on-line, I have not seen the fight. Nonetheless, I am updated on what's happening. Although Pacquiao won, some ordinary Filipinos and sports commentaries voiced out their disgust on the poor performance of their countryman Pacquiao in this bout. I don't blame them because the People's Champ's team had conditioned the Filipinos that Pacquiao would knock out Marquez the latest in the 6th round. They became disappointed when Marquez clung until the 12th round. However, most Filipinos have rejoiced for the win.

I understood the reaction of the Mexicans. Marquez had given many blows to Manny's face and they viewed that they were just enough to declare him the winner.

By the cards of the 3 judges, it was clear that the fight was indeed very close. These judges were professional and with integrity. They could not be persuaded with verbal abuse, loud cheering and booing to change their decision. They have seen many fights and they knew who was their winner.

I have observed that the champion (Pacquiao in this case) has an advantage over the challenger in terms of scoring. No matter how hard the challenger's punches, he could not be declared a winner if he did not knock out the champion. Maybe, this was the case in this fight.

Meanwhile, the magnificent "foot work" of Juan Manuel Marquez below was circulating in the internet.

Natupad na rin ni Manny Pacquiao ang makaharap ang Pangulo ng Amerika na si Barack Obama noong Martes,  ika-15 ng Pebrero, 2011. Hindi sa ring kundi sa oval office ng White House nagsagupa sa huntahan ang dalawang pamosong pigura ng mundo.

Nagbigay si Pangulo Obama kay Manny ng 3 grocery bags na puno ng mapusyaw na asul na M&M's na may selyo ng presidente ng USA. May selyo rin ng presidente ang regalong relo para kay Manny.

Urong-sulong si People's Champ Manny "PACMAN" Pacquiao kung saan network ipapalabas ang kanyang laban kay Ricky "HITMAN" Hatton at sa susunod pa niyang laban. Naunsiyami ang nauna niyang pahayag na ii-ere ang hinihintay na boksing sa Channel 2. Hindi ko tuloy napigilang magkomento sa ginawang paglipat sana nito ni Manny. Una, kasi parang hindi niya sinsusunod ang kanyang naunang kontrata.
