Russian Danill Medvedev smashed Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas in their Semi-final round in the 2021 Australian Open held in Melbourne, Australia on Friday, 19 February 2021. The 4th seeded Medvedev defeated the world no. 5 in 3 straight sets, 6-4, 6-2, 7-5.
The cool and calm Tsitsipas during his match with Rafael Nadal became agitated and frustrated when he lost control of the ball, succumbing to the determined Medvedev. Tsitsipas's anger was manifested when he threw down bottled water on the pavement near his bench. The sprawling water was immediately dried up by the tennis attendants to the dismay of the audience. (I think Tsitsipas deserves a fine for this misbehavior.)
Medvedev is scheduled to face Novak Djokovic of Serbia in the Final on Sunday at the Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne, at 7:30 PM., 21 February 2021. Earlier, Djokovic defeated Aslan Karatsev of Russia. The unseeded Karatsev bowed down to the world no. 1 Djokovic, also in 3 straight sets, 6-3, 6-4, 6-2.
