Tropical typhoon Sendong devastated most parts of Cagayan De Oro and Iligan City early morning on Saturday, December 17, 2011. In spite of the warning of PAG-ASA on Friday afternoon, more than 500 were confirmed dead while about 600 were still unaccounted for. Deaths in CDO were attributed to flash floods and landslides due to heavy rains. Hundreds of families are now on evacuation centers waiting help from the local and national governments.
