Tinatayang humigit-kumulang sa 88 katao ang namatay na mga rallyista sa buong Syria kahapon, Biyenes Santo, nang paulanan ng mga security forces ng tutuong bala at tear gas ang mga nagdedemonstrasyon, ayon sa Amnesty International. Nagpadala ang mga aktibista sa Al-Jazeera ng listahan ng 70 kataong namatay sa buong bansa at sinabing namatay ang mga ito sa tinaguriang " Great Friday" protest. Ang protesta ay laban sa pamahalaan ni Bashar al-Assad na nagsimula noong ika-26 ng Enero, 2011 kaalinsabay ng mga protestang naganap sa iba pang panig ng Gitnang Silangan at Afrika.
About 88 demonstrators were believed to have died all over Syria yesterday, Holy Friday, when they were fired at by the security forces with live bullets and tear gas, according to Amnesty International. The activists sent a list of 70 deaths to Al-Jazeera saying that they died on "Great Friday" protest. The protest was against the government of Bashar al-Assad that started on 26 January 2011 in line with other protests happening in the Middle East and Africa.
