Richard Jay Santos Apagar, a 15-year old Filipino students won the Asian Rubik's Cube Championship 2012 in Hongkong held from October 5 to 7. Apagar beat 130 contestants from 14 countries in Asia and Oceania. He received HK$ 6,000.00 or about P30,000.00. His best time for the challenge was 9.45 seconds. Apagar also placed second in the Megaminx category.
