Miss Japan is Miss International 2012

Ikumi Yoshimatsu,  Miss Japan was crowned the 52nd Miss International 2012 held today, October 21, 2012  at the Okinawa Prefectural Budokan Arena Building in Naha, Okinawa, Japan. Ikumi was also chosen as Miss Photogenic.

Vivi Souminen of Finland was first runner-up, followed by Madusha Mayadunne of Sri Lanka, Melody Mir of Dominican Republic and Nicole Huber of Paraguay. Nicole Schmitz of the Philippines was one of the top 15. 

Best in National Costume was Miss Honduras, Nicole Velasquez. Nang Khin Zay Yar of Burma was selected as Miss Internet. Sixty nine beauties around the world competed in this talent and beauty contest. Fernanda Cornejo of Ecuador, Miss International 2011, crowned this year's winner.

Nonito Donaire 'Samurais" Toshiaki Nishioka

Nonito "The Flash" Donaire of General Santos, Philippines stopped the ambition of  Toshiaki Nishioka of Tokyo, Japan and retained his WBO Super Bantamweight belt on Saturday, October 13, 2012 at the Home Depot Center in Carson, Califronia, USA.

Earlier, WBO Junior Welterweight champion Brandon Rios beat challenger Mike Alvarado in the 7th round when the referee, Pat Russel, stepped in ands topped the fight when he saw that Alvarado was defenseless.

Richard Jay Apagar Wins Asian Rubik's Cube Challenge

Richard Jay Santos Apagar, a 15-year old Filipino students won the Asian Rubik's Cube Championship 2012 in Hongkong held from October 5 to 7. Apagar beat 130 contestants from 14 countries in Asia and Oceania. He received HK$ 6,000.00 or about P30,000.00. His best time for the challenge was 9.45 seconds. Apagar also placed second in the Megaminx category.

KZ Tandingan is X Factor Philippines First Grand Winner

KZ Tandingan of Digos City, Davao del Sur beat Gabriel "Gab" Maturan of Dapitan City and Marikina City's Daddy's Home with 55.45% of text and online votes to win the First X Factor Philippines singing competition on Sunday, October 7, 2012  at the PAGCOR Grand Theater in Paranaque City. Charice Pempengco is the mentor of the 21 year old vocalist. KZ won P 4 million in cash and a recording contract with Star Music. KZ said that she will donate P1 M to her local church.

Second place Gab Maturan under Martin Nievera's mentorship with 33.32% of votes won P100,000 while Gary Valenciano's Daddy'd Home with 12.22% of votes won P50,000.

Allen Sta. Maria Exits X Factor Philippines

The two remaining girls under the mentorship of Charice Pempengco battled it out for the third slot of the X Factor Philippines on Sunday, September 30, 2012. KZ Tandingan and Allen Sta Maria sang their heart out in front of the judges after they found themselves in the bottom 2 based on mobile and internet votes on yesterday's performance. Allen Sta Maria went home when Martin Nievera, Gary Valenciano and Pilita Morales chose to voted her out of the competition. The finale of the first X Factor Philippines talent search will be held on Saturday, October 6, 2012 and the grand winner will be announced on Sunday, October 7, 2012.
